Wondering how to talk to Imai Sokyu in Assassin’s Creed Shadows? As part of hunting down your first target, The Golden Teppo, you’ll take on the Searching Sakai quest. For this quest, you’re instructed to talk to Imai Sokyu, a respected merchant in Sakai. It’s the first stop in a quest line that culminates in a tense tea ceremony.
Per the quest clues, you know he’s in western Izumi Settsu somewhere in the southwest of the port city of Sakai. It’s not much to go on to find the famed tea master, especially as Sakai is a bustling, densely built-up port. We struggled a little to find him while playing for our review. In this guide, we’ll walk you through where to find and how to talk to Imai Sokyu in Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows Imai Sokyu location
To talk to Imai Sokyu, you’ll need to head to a specific house in the southern half of Sakai, southwest of the Sakai Firearm District and southeast of the Money Changer District. Scout the objective from the world map using your scouts to get a blue diamond quest marker giving you a better idea of where to search.
Follow the main road that cuts through the centre of Sakai south until you’re roughly below the letter ‘S’ of Sakai Firearm District on the world map. Check the map images above for the exact location. These include both zoomed-in and zoomed-out shots to help you track him down quickly.

If you use Naoe’s Observe skill and look west, you’ll find a blue flashing dot, indicating the quest objective. It’s in a house to the west of the road. Climb onto the roof of the house and drop down into the courtyard at the back. Turn around and enter through the sliding shoji door to find Imai Sokyu.
However, Sokyu’s son, Imai Sokun, intervenes. Naoe will convince him to let her speak to Sokyu by brandishing some lucrative contracts. He’s a little reluctant and wants to get a measure of Naoe first. You’ll then need to follow Sokun to his home. After another conversation you’ll wrap up the Searching for Sakai quest and the search for Imai Sokyu in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. While you’re in the area you may want to find all the Lost Pages at the Gansenji Temple, just south of Sakai.
