In Assassin’s Creed Shadows, players exploring Japan will encounter various side activities, including unexpected riddles. These riddles may come out of nowhere, but there’s often a reward involved in getting the solution right. One such event is the “seashell riddle”, a small but fun challenge found in the Katano Region. What is the Seashell riddle answer in AC Shadows
The Old Lady with the Seashell Riddle can be found outside the Katano Kakurega (the Hideout). Once you’re in the area, she’ll call for your attention. While her appearance might vary a bit, she often appears as an older woman in a kimono. After engaging you in conversation, she’ll proudly display her seashell and challenge you with the question, “If you are so clever, then answer this. Which province does the seashell come from?”
Playing in Canon Mode helps you figure out the correct answers to most of the game’s riddles that appear from time to time. They often grant bonus rewards, such as replenishing Scout uses and revealing world rumours.
You’ll be given three possible answers to choose from and the options you’ll be presented with are:
- It must be from Omi.
- It is from Kyoto.
- I believe it’s from Wakasa. (this is the correct answer)
It’s worth noting that the appearance of NPCs like this Old Lady is random, and her age and clothing may change from encounter to encounter. However, if she asks this specific riddle, you can be confident the answer will always be “Wakasa.”
Seashell riddle rewards
Once you choose the correct answer, you’ll receive one of two rewards. The first option is to fill a Scout Spot for the season. While it’s nice to have, it’s not particularly valuable, especially since you can refill them for just 200 Mon.
The second reward option is to reveal a world rumour in the area. Most likely, you’ll uncover the Butterfly Collector Rumor since you’re in the Katano Region, though if you encounter this riddle in another region, the rumour could be different.
