Katano Castle in Izumi Settsu is likely the first heavily guarded fortress you’ll come across in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. While the objectives to clear the castle are clear – defeat all Samurai Daisho and loot the chest – there’s a good chance you’ll come across a locked door on the ground floor of the castle. Using Naoe’s Observe skill reveals several chests and loot beyond the door.
As the message clearly states, it’s locked, but there’s not much else in the form of clues as to how you go about doing just that. It turns out there’s a key hidden in the castle grounds. In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to open the Katano Castle locked door in Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

Where to find the Katana Castle Kura Key in Assassin’s Creed Shadows
To get inside the locked door in Katano Castle, you’ll need to get a key located inside a house in the northeast of the castle grounds. There, you’ll find a courtyard with a house patrolled by a Samurai Daisho, several guards, and two orderlies. The key, which is called the Katano Castle Kura Key, is on a table in the westernmost portion of the house.
You’ll want to clear out as many enemies in the area as possible. There are two high-level enemies in the room on the east of the house that are best left alone. Slowly make your way over to the door on the south side of the room and enter, but be careful as there’s a guard inside the room that you’ll want to deal with to avoid alerting more. Once you have the key, there’s a storage room you can unlock to access some loot just south of the house where you picked up the key.

Head back over to the main castle in the southwest of the compound. Either enter through the front gate if you’ve unlocked it already or make your way down from the trap door in the roof. The locked door is on the right (west side) as you enter through the main gate. Use the Katano Castle Kura Key to get inside, where you’ll find resources stockpiles, x5 Minerals, and the Clandestine Tanto of Stealth.
