With Assassin’s Creed Shadows promising a brand new adventure set in Sengoku-period Japan featuring not just one but two protagonists with intertwined stories, you might be weighing up your options about how you’re going to jump into the latest entry in the long-running series.
If you’ve been nursing a Game Pass subscription in the hope that Shadows will land on Xbox’s subscription service, then it’s not great news. The short answer is that Assassin’s Creed Shadows won’t be available on Game Pass on day one, neither on PC or Xbox Series X|S. In this guide, we’ll walk you through all the details around the game not launching on the service.
Is Indiana Jones and the Great Circle coming to Game Pass?
No, there are currently no plans for AC Shadows to come to Game Pass, whether that’s on day one alongside the worldwide release or in the future. Ubisoft hasn’t mentioned Game Pass in its official marketing material, on its website, or in any trailers. Similarly, Microsoft, who likes to make a song and dance about big-ticket releases arriving on the service, hasn’t made a peep about Ubisoft’s Shadows.
This isn’t uncommon from Ubisoft or the AC franchise, as big releases are typically made available at launch on the publisher’s own subscription service, Ubisoft+, or at least for those forking out for the Premium tier, which includes day one access. In Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ case, the Digital Deluxe Edition will be available to subscribers on March 20, 2025.
Now, Game Pass does carry a healthy selection of older Ubisoft titles, so there’s a good chance we’ll see Shadows on the service at some point in the future. However, this is a matter of years rather than months. We’ve yet to see AC Mirage on Game Pass, so Shadows we’ll have to join the queue, making availability something we’ll only see in possibly two to three years time at the earliest.
