Where is AC Mirage set? If you want to know about the setting for the latest Assassin’s Creed game by Ubisoft, then you’ve come to the right place.

We’ve seen several trailers at this point and Ubisoft has been forthcoming with the setting for AC Mirage about when and where it takes place in the history of the world. If you want to know more about Mirage, check out our Assassin’s Creed Mirage release date hub and our page on whether Mirage is an open-world game. Now, on to the setting for Assassin’s Creed Mirage.

Where and when is Assassin’s Creed Mirage set?

Assassin’s Creed Mirage will be set in 9th-century Baghdad, taking place in the year 861. History buffs out there will know that it is therefore set in what is known as the Golden Age of Islam, where Baghdad was a thriving hub of knowledge, art, and flourishing ideas.

As we know, Baghdad would eventually be destroyed in the year 1258 when the city was sacked and invaded. Therefore we will see Baghdad during a fairly turbulent time in its history, being set during a time period known as the anarchy at Samarra, which saw violence on a huge scale. It is currently unclear how faithful to history Mirage will be, but we could expect it to be fairly faithful to historical events if we look at previous games.

✓ Jack’s opinion

How much will there be to do in Baghdad in AC MIrage?

If Assassin’s Creed is good at anything, it’s giving you something to do around these more linear cities. As experienced in older AC games, we are used to less bloat that we saw in Valhalla and we think it’s the perfect opportunity for AC Mirage to give the series a better feel.

Due to this setting confining you to one city, Mirage is being compared heavily to earlier Assassin’s Creed games, and gameplay shows the main character blending in and darting across various districts of the city. That’s all you need to know about the setting for AC Mirage, if you want to know more make sure you read our guide on AC Mirage system requirements and if AC Mirage is coming to Game Pass when it launches.
