What are the AEW Fight Forever game modes? After what feels like an eternity of waiting, AEW Fight Forever has finally arrived as the increasingly popular All Elite Wrestling brand has produced its own video game.

The hotly anticipated wrestling simulation is now available to go out and purchase, offering wrestling fanatics an alternative to the WWE 2K titles for the first time since Next Gen gaming arrived. But what game modes are available upon launch? Let’s take a look.

AEW Fight Forever game modes

Now, unfortunately, there is not an extensive list of game modes available in AEW Fight Forever at launch, although there is enough for you to get by in the early stages of release.

Here is what you can get stuck into on release day.

Exhibition Game Modes

The first batch of game modes falls under the classic ‘exhibition’ bracket. These are all local play modes, meaning you can play against either the computer or a friend/friends who are on the same console as yourself.

Included in the exhibition modes are the classic PvP matches. The classic exhibition matches include 1v1, 2v2, 3-way, or 4-way, all of which are available upon release. Away from the classic matches, there are some more abstract alternatives available too.

Casino Battle Royale

Next up, we have the Casino Battle Royale. In this mode, you will be handed a random playing card before the match begins, and once your card is drawn, you are sent down to the ring in an attempt to be the last man standing. The only way to eliminate an opponent is by sending them over the top rope.

The first option for this mode is a Group Suit Casino Battle Royale. In this mode, you are assigned one of four teams depending on which suit your card falls into (hearts, diamonds, clubs or spades).

The second option is a Solo Suit Casino Battle Royale. In this mode there are no teams, it is quite literally the last man standing. Four superstars begin the match, with a new superstar sent into the ring after each elimination. 21 superstars feature in total.

Exploding Barbed Wire Death Match

This is a 1v1 match in which all ropes around the ring are replaced by exploding barbed wire. Two superstars go head-to-head as they attempt to cause as much damage to their opponent as possible. After two minutes, the ring will explode, causing extra damage to those inside.

Victory in this match type is achieved via pinfall or submission.

Ladder Match

This is a 1v1 match in which the aim is to collect the title hanging above the ring. There are no disqualifications in this match type.

Victory in this match type is achieved by being the first to climb the ladder and collect the title.

Minigames

There are a host of minigames available for those who wish to take a break from wrestling.

The list of minigames available is as follows:

  • Penta Says
  • Chip Gather
  • Shida’s Slugfest
  • Steal the Show
  • Pit Drop
  • Path Tracer
  • Who’s Missing?
  • Spot the Difference
  • Memory
  • Box Breaker
  • Egg Hunt
  • Bomb Hurl
  • Where’s Orange?
  • Count ‘Em Up
  • AEW Pop Quiz

Further mini-games are set to become available as DLC over the coming months.

Training

There is also a training mode available within the Exhibition menus for those looking to fine-tune their wrestling technique.

Online

There are three online game modes available at launch.

  • Ranked Match
  • Casual Match
  • Private Match

Road to the Elite

Road to the Elite is the story mode available in AEW Fight Forever. In Road to the Elite, you will be tasked with selecting an AEW star from the roster who you will then attempt to lead to glory within the company.

Challenges

There are plenty of challenges that you can complete in order to earn yourself extra AEW Cash to spend in the AEW Shop.

Challenges are separated into three categories:

  • Daily – You will have 24 hours to complete these challenges.
  • Weekly – You will have seven days to complete these challenges.
  • Normal – There is no expiry date for these challenges.
