Welcome to Heads-up, our weekly feature which gives you an at-a-glance run-down of the games you’ll be able to buy or rent this weekend. Every Monday we’ll pick out the best of the bunch, link to our reviews and previews and keep you in the video game loop so you have enough time to pre-order for Friday’s post. Time to smash open your piggy bank so you can spend its coin-shaped guts.

Recommended: Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch – PS3

Great mainstream JRPGs don’t come around too often these days, but Namco Bandai’s PS3 exclusive Ni No Kuni is the best we’ve played in quite some time. We’d be lying if we said the glorious Studio Ghibli visuals weren’t a massive draw, but the gameplay and adventure behind the wonderful animation is top notch too. Sadly the Collector’s Edition that comes with a lovely plush Mr Drippy is completely sold out, but the standard edition is still well worth adding to your collection.

And the rest…

We might have recommended Hitman HD trilogy, but we’ve yet to see how the games have been ported to the HD consoles. If they have been handled with care and hold up well, this triple-pack should offer great value. We’re less convinced about criminal underworld simulator Omerta: City of Gangsters. We’ve not been thrilled by what we’ve seen, but this could be a niche that doesn’t have too many competitors.
