Fortnite refunds have been a popular topic over the past few days. Due to the Epic Games settlement with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the company has to pay $245 million in refunds. In addition, Epic was fined $275 million for breaking a couple of rules.

Players from the United States can apply for a Fortnite refund over the next four months. To do this, all they need is their Epic Games ID and less than a minute of their time. However, many players still don’t understand why this is happening and why they are getting refunds.

This article will explain all you need to know about Epic’s settlement.

The FTC v. Epic Games settlement was caused by the lack of Fortnite features

Fortnite has been one of the most popular video games since its release in 2017. It’s a free video game, and the only way for Epic Games to make a profit is by selling cosmetic items. Unfortunately, the game developer did not implement features to prevent accidental purchases until recently.

In the past, it was not possible to get refunds in Fortnite. Epic then released refund tickets in Chapter 1 – Season 4, but this still didn’t prevent accidental purchases. As a result, many players have purchased cosmetics from the Item Shop without wanting to do so.

On top of this, players who complained about unwanted charges had their accounts locked.

The FTC fined the Fortnite developer $275 in late 2022 for these practices. In addition, as part of the FTC v. Epic Games settlement, the company has to provide eligible players with refunds.

Almost anyone who purchased unwanted items in the first few years of Fortnite is eligible for a refund. However, only players who are 18 and older and who are from the United States may file a claim. The official website of the FTC has all the details, so make sure to check it out.
