Age of Empires IV: Season Four Update

Age of Empires IV is a strategy game set during the Early Middle Ages. It was originally released in late 2021, and now season 4 is here for fans to enjoy. This latest update for Age of Empires IV is diving into a bit more fantasy this time around with their “Enchanted Grove” update. 

This new update not only brings a new event, but also introduces a new biome, a new mode, new maps, UI improvements and more. So let’s dive into everything new with Season 4 of Age of Empires IV. 

Age of Empires IV Season Four: Enchanted Grove 

Season 4 Four is out now and will last through to the 29th of March, one of the biggest additions to the game is Enchanted Grove, a new Biome. The new Biome looks as though it will have more of a fantasy feel.

The biggest draw of this new Biome is hunting the Enchanted Stag in Multiplayer and Skirmish matches. The reward for this will be the Golden Stag Monument. 

Age of Empires IV Season Four: New Maps 

Three new maps have been added, as part of the new update, for players to explore and enjoy. Here are the new maps as listed and described on the official Age of Empire website: 

Four Lakes 

• “ A land surrounded by four lakes invites aggression from all sides, both on land and on water. Fight for control over the land and the lakes at the edge of the map! In this open map, action can happen anywhere and in every corner. Maintaining control over the lakes and islands at the edges of the map could be the key to victory at the center.”

Continental

•  “Continental makes its return from the original Age of Empires! An extensive island surrounded by ocean — the water holds numerous fish and stealth areas to ambush your foes. With water restricting maneuverability, your Town Center will be in close proximity to others, so take strategic care to balance your military for both water and land!”  

Marshland 

• “Marshland is an open and aggressive environment set deep into the jungle, surrounded by boggy grounds. There are vast amounts of forest you can hide in to surprise your opponents, and though there are plenty of resources scattered in the swamps, beware of the dangerous wildlife lurking in the woods.”  

Age of Empires IV Season Four: New Game Mode Nomad 

A new season also welcomes a new game mode: Nomad. Nomad is available in custom and skirmish games, where you will have three scattered villages to start with through the Ages. 

Nomad will have the same options as standard game mode, however your nomads are scattered out across the map. You can find this game mode among the game modes in Custom or Skirmish game set-ups. 

Age of Empires IV Season Four: Mod Browser Update

• Dynamic search – Players can now see mods search results appear as soon as they start typing in the search input bar, without needing to click on a search button. 
• More relevant search results – We’ve made changes in how the server returns search results based on the player’s search criteria.   
• Popular Search – Search results will now be sorted based on their “popularity” score which is calculated based on subscription numbers and ratings, so popular mods would appear first. 

• Official mods toggle – Players can now filter mods using the new “official” toggle to find official mods, as well as see a new official label on them. 
• Subscriber count display – We’ve added subscriber count on mod tiles to help players find popular mods quickly. 
• Pagination system – Players can now view search results with a new paging system to view them page by page, jump to a specific page or the first/last page.
