The latest Nintendo Direct Partner showcase was filled with anime titles as far as the eye could see.
From the highly requested port of Digimon Story Time Stranger to exciting sequels like Kyoto Xanadu, there was never a dull moment for those surfing the high waves of all the exciting new anime titles.
However, the breakneck pace of Nintendo Directs means that you may well have missed some of these promising offerings. Here are some of the most exciting titles that you might have missed, from thrilling mystery novels to those inspired by iconic anime series.
These are all coming to Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, but you may see them on other platforms too.
Orbitals
Originally announced in December, this intergalactic co-op adventure combines puzzles, action game elements, and multiplayer magic on Nintendo Switch 2.
Heavy inspirations from the 1980s and 1990s Japanese retro anime are delightfully apparent, with this distinctive style being created through a distinct blend of 3D cell-shaded environments with 2D character art. Orbitals is shaping up to be a delightful adventure, poised to take you and a pal through the stars in summer 2026.
Paranormasight The Mermaid’s Curse
Cult classic horror mystery visual novel Paranormasight makes a chilling return in Paranormasight The Mermaid’s Curse. This brand new entry is set to establish Paranormasight as its own series, and follows a young pearl diver named Yuza who explores a dark, centuries-old legend about a mermaid on a remote island.
Given the bone-chilling story of the first game, Paranormasight the Seven Mysteries of Honjo, we can be sure that this tale and Gen Kobayashi’s grounded, atmospheric art style will make this new mystery just as haunting. It’s releasing on February 19, 2026, for Nintendo Switch, PC, and mobile. I can’t wait to dive into the horrors sooner rather than later.
Captain Tsubasa 2 World Fighters
This action-packed anime soccer game is based on the iconic soccer manga and anime of the same name, bringing characters from the classic sports-focused series to life. The arcade soccer style gameplay makes it stand out from other titles that try to replicate the sport too closely, giving this one a delightful anime coat of paint that makes every match more thrilling.
The unmissable and colorful visual style of Captain Tsubasa breathes life into the high-intensity games, where the characters are giving it their all just as they have been since the 1980s. Given that it’s been five years since our last Captain Tsubasa title, fans of the games, anime, and manga alike will no doubt be enthralled when it releases for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC on Steam later in 2026.
Sizzle reels are not immune to anime
There was plenty more anime inspiration to go around, including titles like action-RPG Tales of Arise – Beyond the Dawn Edition and turn-based adventure Another Eden Begins, which are also set to release later in 2026.
Despite some looking more polished than others, all are perfect for fans of anime who are looking for more glorious drama and colorful art styles. Anime fans are eating well in 2026, and we’re very happy to have a seat at the buffet.
VideoGamer will bring you in-depth coverage of these exciting anime titles, so keep your eyes on us as we explore these games and their colorful anime-inspired worlds as they arrive.
