Marvel’s Wolverine is the next major superhero game from Marvel’s Spider-Man developer Insomniac Games. The title is scheduled for Fall 2026, and industry insider Jason Schreier expects it to release in September or October, as he believes Sony is planning their release calendar around GTA 6.

At the 9:55 mark of The Ringer-Verse podcast episode discussing the most anticipated games of 2026, Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier says, “I think Wolverine is most certainly going to come out in September or October.” Schreier suspects that “Sony is planning its entire calendar around GTA, and will not release anything within the blast zone,” referring to GTA 6’s current release date, November 19.

While GTA 6 is also launching on Xbox Series X/S, Schreier believes it is “kind of like a PlayStation exclusive,” explaining that “most of the sales will be on PlayStation and it will sell a lot of PlayStation 5s”.

Rumors suggest that Sony has secured marketing rights for GTA 6, though nothing is officially confirmed. However, the game’s second trailer ends with a statement noting that all footage was “Captured on PS5,” and it also features protagonist Jason playing video games on a console resembling a PS5.

Although Schreier believes Marvel’s Wolverine will release in September or October to avoid Grand Theft Auto, he is not fully convinced GTA 6 will make its November release date as the game is still not content-complete.

As for Marvel’s Wolverine, the game is a PS5 exclusive and is set in the same universe as Marvel’s Spider-Man. This means Peter Parker, Miles Morales, and Wolverine all exist within the same timeline.

In December 2023, Marvel’s Wolverine was affected by a major gameplay leak after Insomniac was attacked by hackers. That same leak suggested the game was targeting a 2026 release, while also alleging plans for Spider-Man 3 in 2028 and an X-Men game in 2030.
