Rockstar Games’ GTA 6 Trailer 2 has finally been released after months of conspiracy theories and speculation from fans. Following a lengthy delay of the game until May 26, 2026, the new trailer revealed tonnes of new details regarding the upcoming open-world game.
When GTA 6 was announced, the game was revealed for Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X and PS5 as the more powerful PS5 Pro had yet to be announced. However, now that the new console is out and offers significantly more power, Rockstar had an opportunity to show off their game even better than before… but did they?

According to Rockstar Games, all footage shown in the GTA 6 Trailer 2 video was captured on a “PS5”, not a “PS5 Pro”. On the base system, Rockstar has pulled out all the stops: there’s gorgeous ray-traced reflections, some great image quality and incredibly high-resolution assets all around. I mean, just look at Lucia’s sequinned dress—that asset alone could kill a Xbox One.
Just like Rockstar did with Red Dead Redemption on Xbox One and PS4, Grand Theft Auto 6 is clearly pulling every ounce of power out of the Xbox Series and PS5 consoles. It looks like a true next-generation leap over Red Dead Redemption 2 which already looked too good to believe when it was running on the old Xbox VCR.
However, this means that the PS5 Pro version of the new Grand Theft Auto should look even better. There are a few visual issues: the game seems to use some form of image reconstruction that breaks up on intricate scenes like the prison fence and, of course, the game runs at just 30 frames-per-second on console.
For PS5 Pro, we could expect a much cleaner image with the use of PSSR or just a higher native resolution, but CPU bottlenecks mean we likely won’t get 60fps. However, judging from recent releases of games like Indiana Jones and The Great Circle, we could see more intensive ray-tracing on the Pro console.
While this is all well and good, there is just one worry: what about Xbox Series S. We already know that the game is looking great and running well on PS5 and, presumably, Series X, and it should look even better on Pro. But with the lower power of the Series S, how playable will GTA 6 be on Microsoft’s little console? Only time will tell.
