Reliable leaker Billbil_kun has leaked one of the PS Plus January 2026 Essential games ahead of Sony’s official reveal. According to Billbil_kun, who often accurately leaks upcoming PS Plus releases through French outlet Dealabs, one of the January 2026 Essential games is Need For Speed Unbound.

Sony typically releases three new games for the PS Plus Essential tier every month, but Need For Speed Unbound is the only game that has currently leaked. The PS Plus January 2026 Essential games will officially release on January 6, and it’s expected that Sony will announce the full lineup on December 31 at 8AM PST/11AM EDT/4PM GMT.

If Need For Speed Unbound is accurate, PlayStation Plus subscribers are in for a treat. It’s an arcade street racing game published by Electronic Arts, located in a fictional open-world called Lakeshore City, inspired by the real-life Chicago.

You will be able to claim the PS Plus January 2026 Essential games whether you are subscribed to the Essential, Extra, or Premium tier of Sony’s subscription service. Essential costs $10 per month, $25 every three months, or $80 per year, whereas Extra costs $15 per month, $40 every three months, or $135 per year. Premium is the most expensive tier, costing $18 per month, $50 every three months, or $160 per annum.

Essential offers three new games every month with the ability to play multiplayer games online. Extra offers the same along with a library that includes hundreds of PS4 and PS5 games, which Premium users can also access, along with PS1, PS2, and PS3 classics.

While PS Plus Premium is the most expensive tier, it’s still $200 cheaper than 12 months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
