Where is Need for Speed Unbound set?
The game is situated in the fictional locale of Lakeshore City, which is based on the real city of Chicago. Much like any other large district, the in-game neighborhood features a downtown section filled with the hustle and bustle of urban areas.

Outside of the busy portions of the city, there are plenty of other zones where you’ll be able to explore throughout your adrenaline-filled adventure. Some of the more important points of interest that you’ll be able to discover in the game include the following:
- Rydell’s Rydes – this will be your first safehouse where you’ll be able to hide from cops and store your vehicles and cash.
- Storm Drain, Cyrill Heights – an area where you’ll be able to challenge other competitors to a race.
- City Pier, Underwood Gardens – a race zone where the bright lights of the city illuminate the way.
- Rudiger’s Safehouse, Yams Park – another safehouse where you can escape the heat if you’re near this zone.
- Car Plant, Kennedy Test Track – you’ll be able to test out your ride fully with this section’s racetrack design.
- Quarry Domes, Lakeshore Quarry – if you’re more inclined to race through dirt tracks, then this is the spot for you.
- L-Train, City – be careful not to hit other drivers as this is directly located in the heart of the city.
- Mountain Road, Kennedy Drive – head up to the mountains where you’ll be able to drive to your heart’s content.
