The PS Plus January 2026 Essential games should be revealed on December 31. Sony hasn’t confirmed any games joining Essential in the new year, and there are currently no leaks. However, as spotted by the PlayStation Plus subreddit, the PlayStation Store in Japan shows four games that are set to leave the Extra tier on January 20.

Below are the four games leaving PS Plus Extra in January 2026:

  • Like A Dragon Gaiden The Man Who Erased His Name
  • Monopoly Plus
  • Sayanora Wild Hearts
  • SD Gundam Battle Alliance

You also only have until January 5 to claim the PS Plus December 2025 Essential games:

  • LEGO Horizon Adventures
  • Killing Floor 3
  • The Outlast Trials
  • SYNDUALITY Echo of Ada
  • Neon White

December has been a great month for PS Plus. Not only did Essential receive five games instead of the usual three, but Extra received two day one releases.

One of the day one releases for PS Plus Extra was the Red Dead Redemption Remaster on December 2, which runs at a “smooth 60 frames per second” with “enhanced image quality”. While the original Red Dead Redemption starring John Marston is excellent, an insider insists that a Red Dead Redemption 2 Remaster is coming, too.

The other PS Plus Extra day-one addition was Skate Story on December 8. We gave Skate Story a 9/10 in our review, hailing it as an “allegorical love letter to skateboarding” that is “Thoughtful and inventive in unexpected ways”.

PS Plus Essential costs $10 per month, $25 every three months, or $80 per year, whereas Extra costs $15 per month, $40 every three months, and $135 per year. Essential includes online multiplayer and three new games to claim every month, which Extra includes alongside a catalogue that boasts hundreds of games to play.

There is also the most expensive tier of PS Plus Premium, which is $200 cheaper than Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
