Instagram Threads release has amassed massive popularity, with users already need a web version for the app. However, like Instagram itself which went without a desktop version, Threads hasn’t got the same capabilities. Perhaps much of this decision was made in order to prevent bots and scalping, which is one of Twitter’s major issues.

However, we may have found a way to let you access Threads through your Desktop PC. Here’s how you can try it:

How to use Threads on Desktop / PC

If you want to use Threads on Desktop, you’re going to have get pretty technical with it. Back in the day, if you wanted to access Instagram on your PC, you had to use an Android emulator in order to do so. The same applies for Instagram Threads.

The top emulator for Android is BlueStacks. This software allows you to run a custom, optimised version of Android which runs on your PC. It’s an app primarily designed to allow you to play mobile games on your PC, however you can also use it to get apps from the Google Play Store, alongside installing APKs.

  • Download BlueStacks
  • Run BlueStacks installer
  • Sign into your Google account
  • Open Google Play Store
  • Search for Instagram Threads
  • Install app

It’s as simple as that to get BlueStacks on your PC, and then to run Instagram Threads on your Desktop.

Does Threads have an official app on Desktop PC

At the moment, there isn’t an official app for Instagram Threads on Desktop, however as we saw with Instagram, it’s possible that it could be released eventually.

There’s a basic front-end for Instagram Threads, however it’s very limited in its capabilities and couldn’t really be describes as an app. Instead, it redirects you to a download for either iOS or Android devices.

Each day, Threads is growing in popularity, so it seems unlikely that we’ll never see an official, usable app on the web.
