With the RTX 4070 Super released first with a relatively low price of $599, the RTX 4070 Ti Super was followed with a slightly bigger price tag of $799. The RTX 4080 Super is set to have an MSRP of $999. While still pricey, this is a dramatic reduction in asking price over the original RTX 4080 which debuted at $1199, you’re saving $200 here.
When we compared the RTX 4070 Ti Super Vs RTX 3090, we noticed quite a big price difference, with the RTX 3090 having an MSRP of $1499, a price tag which has remained relatively unchanged since its release in 2020, which is nearly twice the cost of the RTX 4070 Ti Super. That being said, the price tags of the Super series seem to be indicative of the specs we can expect to see, so although the RTX 4080 Super is set to cost more, it looks as though its performance will be worth the higher cost.

In terms of the order of release, it seems Nvidia may be following the mantra: save the best for last. With the 4070 Ti Super released on January 24, the last in the Super series is set to be available to buy as of today, January 31, making it the last to be released. These three GPUs are coming two years after Nvidia’s initial release of the RTX 40 Series, which came out in November 2022.

As stated above, the RTX 4080 Super is set to have a higher amount of CUDA Cores with 10240 than the 4070 Ti Super which only boasts 8448, alongside a higher bandwidth of 736GB/S while the Ti Super only has a memory bandwidth of 672GB/s. That being said, the 4080 Super and the 4070 Ti Super are matched in their RAM capacity, 16 GB GDDR6X memory, and an equal 256-bit memory interface. They are built on the same AD103 die as well.

When compared by YouTube benchmarker Mark PC during Cyberpunk 2077 at 4K, the RTX 4080 Super did have a better framerate performance with a peak of 80 fps, while the 4070 Ti Super peaked at around 67 fps. However, they were fairly matched in terms of GPU temperature during the gameplay at a roughly consistent 64 degrees celsius each. When compared during Assassin’s Creed Valhalla 4K gameplay, the RTX 4080 Super pulled ahead with a lower temperature at a low of 61 degrees celsius, with a peak frame rate of 151fps, compared to the RTX 4070 Ti Super which had a lowest temperature of 62 degrees celsius and a peak framerate of 123fps.
When compared to their predecessors by Nvidia, the RTX 4080 Super boasts up to 3.1x better theoretical performance when compared to the RTX 3080 Ti during Alan Wake 2 gameplay, and roughly 2x better when playing older games like Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. When compared to the RTX 3070 Ti, the RTX 4070 Ti Super scored around 4.1x better during Alan Wake 2 and about 2.5x better during The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
Should you buy the RTX 4080 Super or RTX 4070 Ti Super?
If you want a slightly more power-efficient, cheaper GPU that can provide solid 1440p gameplay, especially if you only rely on your graphics card for casual gaming, then the RTX 4070 Ti Super is a solid choice. But if you’ve got a spare $1000 that you are prepared to spend on a piece of hardware, or want the best possible 4K graphics, then the RTX 4080 Super is a powerful GPU that can handle high graphics demands while gaming or 3D rendering.
