We’re comparing RTX 3050 6GB Vs RTX 4060 Ti to see whether it’s worth upgrading to the 40 series or whether the new RTX 3050 6GB will be good enough. Coming into the graphics card game with a very quiet announcement, ahead of its release date later this week, this upgraded version of the GPU flagship has Nvidia hoping to get those still clinging onto the aging GTX 1650 or GTX 1660 into the age of RTX. Want to know how you can get your hands on one? We’ve got you covered, check out where to buy RTX 3050 6GB. Let’s get into it.

RTX 3050 6GB Vs RTX 4060 Ti price comparison

The RTX 4060 Ti came out in May 2023 with a mid-range MSRP of $399 / ÂŁ379, a price tag which has remained fairly consistent in the year since its debut, the ASUS TUF RTX 4060 Ti is currently on Amazon for around the $399 mark. Meanwhile the ASUS Dual RTX 3050 6GB is available to pre-order on Newegg for around $179, which is a considerable drop from the original RTX 3050’s MSRP at launch of $249, and more comparable to the GTX 1650 which hit the market with a price of $149. Making the RTX 3050 6GB a cost effective GPU if the specs make it worth considering the 30 series instead of the newer (though more expensive) 40 series.

RTX 3050 6GB Vs RTX 4060 Ti release date comparison

The RTX 3050 6GB has had a “soft” launch this week with the release date set for this Friday, February 9, this is coming right after Nvidia triple release through January of the RTX 40 Super series. The original RTX 3050 was released in January 2022, while the RTX 4060 Ti came out in May 2023, making it just under a year old. Check out our RTX 3050 6GB hub to stay up to date with release date and time news.

RTX 3050 6GB Vs RTX 4060 Ti specs comparison

Though the price tag is substantially smaller than the RTX 4060 Ti, the RTX 3050 6GB’s specs don’t come out on top. Though the RTX 3050 6GB claims a smaller bus width of 242mm (vs the RTX 4060 Ti’s 336mm) and a lower power consumption of 80 W (while the 4060 Ti has a TDP of 160 W), those are the only specs in favor of the RTX 3050 6GB. Both GPUs support DirectX 12, as well as both being equipped with 1X HDMI 2.1 port and 3X DisplayPort 1.4a.

The RTX 4060 Ti boasts over 2000 more CUDA cores with 4352, vs the RTX 3050 6GB’s 2304, a higher boost clock speed of 2535 MHz (the RTX 3050 6GB only claims 1470 MHz) and the RTX 4060 Ti’s texture fill rate is over double that of the RTX 3050 6GB, with 324.5 and 105.8 respectively. The RTX 3050 6GB, not so surprisingly, has 6GB of GDDR6 VRAM, a 96-bit memory bus, memory clock speed of 14GB/s and a memory bandwidth of 168.0GB/s. Meanwhile the RTX 4060 Ti boasts 16GB of GDDR6 VRAM, a 128-bit memory bus, a memory clock speed of 18GB/s and a memory bandwidth of 288.0GB/s, meaning the RTX 4060 Ti has a high memory capacity and is faster overall.

RTX 3050 6GB Vs RTX 4060 Ti performance comparison

Based on the RTX 3050’s performance in graphically demanding titles like Cyberpunk 2077, we are hoping to see the RTX 3050 6GB able to comfortably handle 1080p at 30fps as well.

The RTX 3050 got an average frame rate as high as 50fps during 1080p,with graphics set to ultra settings, gameplay of the Last of Us Part 1 by GamesOracle on YouTube, compared to the RTX 4060 Ti which scored an average frame rate of 100+fps during the same game. On paper, RTX 3050 6GB may not beat the RTX 4060 Ti, which excels at 1080p and can reach 1440p resolution, but if the RTX 3050’s performance is any indication of the RTX 3050 6GB’s capabilities then this GPU will comfortably run 1080p with ease.

Should I buy RTX 3050 6GB or RTX 4060 Ti?

The biggest reason to consider buying the RTX 3050 6GB instead of a 60-class GPU, is dependent on your budget and your gaming frequency. If you only require a newer graphics card to run modern titles but are a casual gamer that wouldn’t benefit from the vast 4K capabilities of a high-end GPU, for example the RTX 4090, then the RTX 3050 6GB is a safe choice. It will run modern titles at a decent 1080p resolution up to60fps with the help of DLSS, and is still a newer GPU which promises more longevity. It also won’t cost an arm and a leg, with an anticipated MSRP and pre order price tag at under $200, this is definitely a robust GPU for you if you’re on a budget. That being said, if you are looking for a higher quality graphics up to 1440p, with a faster processing speed and more available memory, or if you are a more frequent gamer then the 40 class is a solid choice; while it does have a higher MSRP, the RTX 4060 Ti is a mid-range GPU that offers good value for money.

When will the RTX 3050 6GB be available?

Still currently available to pre-order via retailers such as Newegg, the RTX 3050 6GB will be officially released this Friday, February 9.

Is the RTX 4060 Ti still a good GPU?

If you want a mid-range GPU that won’t cost the four-figures of the higher class 40 series models, the RTX 4060 Ti flourishes in games at 1080p, and will reach 1440p.
