We’re going to be covering how easy it is to play Palworld on Mac with the use of CrossOver.

If you’ve jumped the gun and purchased the game without checking its system requirements, you’ll be disappointed to learn that you can’t run the game without using a Windows device. Consider the absolutely astonishing player numbers the game has, it’s surprising that macOS devices aren’t compatible yet. Luckily, it’s not hard at all to get started with playing Palworld on Mac.

How to play Palworld on Mac?

CrossOver lets you run Windows games on macOS. Here’s how to install Palworld with it.

  1. Download and install CrossOver

You will need to consider using the 14-day trial for the time being.

  2. Create a Steam ‘bottle’

CrossOver uses ‘bottles’ as a form of a virtual machine. Each application will have it’s own bottle, filled up with a virtual C:// drive, registry, filesystem, and software. Click ‘install’ and find Steam.

  3. Enable D3DMetal and MSync

During the Steam bottle install, you will see an option for both of these graphical options. Enable them.

  4. Install Palworld through the Steam ‘bottle’

You’re going to need to have the Palworld game in your Steam Library. All you need to do is click install, and it’s going to do its thing.

Is Palworld on Mac?

Technically, while you can play Palworld on Mac through Crossover, it’s not going to run natively. At the moment, there is only official support for Palworld on Windows and Xbox.

The game had a shocking launch marked by unprecedented popularity. It’s seen various controversies: AI generated assets, possibly infringing on the Pokémon IP, and the questionable morals of the game. I don’t expect that the developers, Pocketpair, could have expected this much interest in Palworld. This explains why Palworld isn’t on Mac just yet – simply because there hasn’t been time to implement it, nor the resources.

Since you can’t natively play it on Mac, you might consider one of the best laptops for Palworld instead.

Will Palworld be coming Mac soon?

There’s been no word from the developers that Palworld is coming to Mac anytime soon, and there’s no reason to believe it’s even on the cards just yet.

Palworld on Mac release date speculation

Porting games to Mac from Unreal Engine 5 is entirely possible, however it’s not as simple as packaging it up differently. The developers will actively need to go out of their way to work around all of the possible issues with transitioning from Windows to macOS. If we’re going to see Palworld come to Mac, I wouldn’t bother waiting for a release date until at least 2025.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is Palworld not on Mac?

At the moment, the reason it’s not on Mac is likely due to time and resource constraints. Often, if a game is released, it won’t see a Mac release for at least a year after it’s original launch, if ever.
