Microsoft hints at a new Xbox mid-generation console in the latest Official Xbox Podcast, with Xbox president, Sarah Bond, stating that Xbox plans to deliver “the largest technical leap you will have ever seen in a hardware generation”.

The 22-minute podcast featured Xbox president, Bond, alongside CEO of Microsoft Gaming, Phil Spencer, and president of game content and studios, Matt Booty. During discussions about Xbox’s future, Xbox confirmed that four unnamed Xbox exclusive games are heading for multi-platform. We are still awaiting the news of which titles we will see available for other consoles, though, The Verge are reporting leaks from Microsoft that Sea of Thieves and Hi-Fi Rush may be among the four.

Also covered in the Xbox Business Update is that we can expect to see Diablo 4 coming added to Game Pass in the latter half of March 2024, with this leading the Activision Blizzard games being introduced to Xbox’s Game Pass.

The podcast ended with the panel discussing the major game releases heading Xbox’s way in 2024, with Indian Jones and Hellblade 2 among those being launched this year, as well as there being “more in development, which we’re going to be able to share more about at our June showcase”.

In regards to an upcoming console, Bond said that Xbox is “invested in the next-generation road map” as well as saying “there’s some exciting stuff coming out in hardware that we’re going to share this holiday”. Xbox also tweeted: Xbox hardware will also continue to be a flagship experience for players and for game developers to launch games on with  a robust and innovative multi-year hardware roadmap, including more console and controller options for you this holiday” which has us hopeful we will see an official Xbox announcement in the near future.

That being said, despite that Microsoft hints at a new Xbox mid-generation console in the podcast, there was no explicit mention of an exact product, and while we still don’t know when the new-generation console can be expected, or even what it will be called, and what the “largest technical leap” will look like, the Xbox president was clearly enthusiastic about the progress in Xbox’s hardware and Xbox as a platform, sparking excitement for the developments we will hopefully get to see in 2024.

Are Xbox exclusives coming to PS5?

In the latest Official Xbox Podcast, the Xbox President announced four Xbox exclusive games will be available across different consoles later this year. We currently do not know what games or what console specifically.

What is the current newest Xbox?

Despite rumors beginning to circle after Xbox’s latest hints at a new mid-generation console in the works, currently the newest Xbox remains the Xbox Series X|S.
