If you’re wondering how to connect ASUS ROG Ally to a monitor or TV, we’re here to spill the beans.

This new handheld gaming device from ASUS is one of the most powerful we have ever seen. The ASUS ROG Ally specs are similar to those of a decent mid-range gaming PC and a great gaming monitor, albeit a small one, bundled into one, with 16GB of RAM, an RDNA 3 GPU, and an 120Hz refresh rate display.

On top of that the compatibility is brilliant. The ASUS ROG Ally can run Steam Games, Battle.net and even Xbox PC. Hooking up the Ally up to a monitor or TV allows you to put all that gaming functionality and power to use on a much bigger screen, essentially giving you the benefits of handheld and desktop gaming in one.

How to connect ASUS ROG Ally to a monitor or TV

Because the ASUS ROG Ally can be docked, hooking it up to a monitor is a fairly simple process. There are a range of docks out there that can work with the Ally but they all function similarly, connecting it by cable to an external monitor.

  • Plug your dock in
  • Connect your ASUS ROG Ally to the dock via the USB-C cable
  • Connect an HDMI from your dock to your TV or monitor
  • Hold down the M1 button and press X. From there you can adjust your image settings
  • Connect external controls either via Bluetooth or the remaining ports on your ASUS Dock

We’ve already picked out the best docks for the Ally which are definitely worth considering. With ASUS’ own dock, there’s even space to connect a keyboard and mouse.

This brings a vast range of new functionality to the already pretty nifty ASUS ROG Ally. What’s more, while the maximum resolution of the ROG Ally in handheld mode is limited by the display of the handset itself, this is not the case on an external monitor, and, when docked, the ASUS ROG Ally is 4K.

You can connect your Ally to a monitor with many of the third-party docks out there. Most of these were designed for the Steam Deck but will work fine with the Ally. We’ve rounded up what’s on offer with the best ROG Ally accessories.

For docks, your other option is the buy the official ROG Gaming Charger Dock. As the name suggests this does have the added benefit of charging the device while it is connected to a monitor. If you’re looking for more official accessories you can also get the official ASUS ROG Ally case, to keep your Ally safe and sound come rain or shine.
