You’re in the right place if you’ve wanted to know if Palworld supports ultrawide gaming monitors. We’ve been playing the massively popular online crafting survival game and can tell you that the game does in fact support 21:9 aspect ratio in our testing. We’ve been playing title on the ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG34WCDM, which is one of the best gaming monitors available and have encountered no issues in 3440 x 1440.

Once booted up, Palworld defaults to playing in full screen with the game running at your monitor’s default resolution. If you’re using a 21:9 ultrawide, this will be either 2560 x 1080p (for Full HD), 3440 x 1440p (for QHD), or 3840 x 2160 (for double 4K). Keep in mind, to play Palworld optimally in a larger resolution you’ll need one of the best GPUs as the game’s optimization in early access can leave a little to be desired.

Depending on whether you have the Steam Early Access version of are playing it through Xbox Game Pass, your mileage may vary. For our testing, we opted to use the Steam release as this has been more stable than going through PC Game Pass and, as evidenced in our Palworld graphics settings, you’ll want this version to make use of DLSS.

How to fix ultrawide FOV in Palworld

According to a Reddit thread on r/ultrawidemasterrace, some users are having difficulty getting the game to work in ultrawide with poor field of view scaling. A fix has been suggested to alleviate the issue. Here’s how Palworld looks in 21:9 running on our RTX 4090 build:

Palworld currently has a maximum total field of view of 90 degrees which scales fairly well in the Steam early access release, but could leave something to be desired. The UI elements in 1440p are well sized and in the right corners, too. Playing Palworld in ultrawide is more immersive than checking the game out in the more standard 16:9 aspect ratio thanks to its open world scope which lends itself well to a wider field of vision.

Our quick guide on fixing ultrawide FOV issues in Palworld, courtesy of Reddit.

  1. Open %appdata%

Type ‘run’ into the Windows Search Bar, then type ‘%appdata%’

  2. Locate the Palworld folder

    Navigate to Saved/Config/Windows

  3. Open engine.ini

Insert this to the bottom: [/script/engine.localplayer] AspectRatioAxisConstraint=AspectRatio_MaintainYFOV

As is the case with the majority of modern PC games, the cutscenes in Palworld are pre-rendered at 16:9 which means you’ll see black bars for any non-interactable parts of the game. This, however, does not extend to menus, as once you’re inside a server, the game runs everything in 21:9 with no issues to report on our end. Palworld features few cutscenes, too. You can see how cutscenes load into the game on an ultrawide gaming monitor below:

The game is in early access which means you may need to deep dive into the config files in order to tweak the title to your liking. The range of field of view and Palworld graphics options are a little vague at the moment, and we advise checking out the Palworld system requirements to make sure your machine is up to the task. It’s a little temperamental right now, and we recommend the Steam release over the Xbox Game Pass version on PC for the better compatibility. We’ll be updating you as things develop with the game. There you have it, you now know that Palworld supports ultrawide gaming monitors.

Below we’ve detailed the full specs of the 21:9 gaming monitor used in our Palworld testing. It features an OLED panel combined with 400 True Black HDR and a staggering 240Hz, the best of both worlds with visual fidelity and speed. You can check it out below.
