With Baldur’s Gate 3’s audio issues, you’re going to scratching your head a little trying to fix them.
With the launch going pretty smoothly thanks to Larian Studios’ dedication to development, and an already lengthy Early Access period smoothing out any issues, there’s not much to complain about with Baldur’s Gate 3.
That said, there’s a few issues that are currently being ironed out, including low frame rate, crashing, and also save games not syncing. We’ve had a look at how to sort these issues out, though we’re expecting updates to land soon with Baldur’s Gate 3.
How to fix Baldur’s Gate 3 audio issues
Here’s how to fix Baldur’s Gate 3 audio issues:
- Rollback NVIDIA High Definition Audio Driver
- Restart, update drivers, and verify game files
- Delete previous patch folders
How to roll back NVIDIA High Definition Audio Drivers
Firsly, you’re going to want to roll-back your NVIDIA High Definition Audio Drivers. You can do this by opening your Device Manager in Windows, locating Sound, video and game controllers, and rolling back your device drivers.
- Hit the Windows key
- Search for Device Manager in the entry bar
- Scroll down to Sound, video and game controllers
- Right click your malfunctioning device and open Properties
- Click the ‘driver‘ tab
- Click Roll Back Driver
Restart, update drivers, and verify game files
If the first fix didn’t work, you can try this one.
- Restart your PC
- Update your audio drivers
- Verify integrity of game files
Delete previous patch folders
Another fix that we’ve seen on Reddit is deleting patch folders from the games local files.
- Type in %localappdata% in Windows search bar
- Locate and open Larian Studios folder, then Baldurs Gate 3 folder
- Open Data folder
- Delete Patch9_HF1, Patch9_HF2 and Patch9_HF3 files
These are only a few of the fixes we’d recommend for players looking to solve any issues they’re having with audio in Baldur’s Gate 3. If you’re still struggling with this, it’s likely that it could launch with the next patch for the game, though we don’t know exactly when this is going to arrive.
