If you’re wondering if the new iPhone 15 will have Dynamic Island, then we’re here to tell you that it is looking likely that it will, though we do not know for sure yet. Let’s break it down.

Recently, we’ve had a sudden wave of leaks pertaining to the new iPhone 15. We’ve been getting news about everything from its rumoured release date, to the possibility of a new Ultra model, to the news that Apple may even be switching to USB-C.

All of this exciting news has been supported by leaks that are reliable but leaks nonetheless. This means that nothing has been confirmed officially, and the same is true with news about Dynamic Island coming to the iPhone 15 – if the leaks are to be trusted, it will be there.

The leak in question comes from ShrimpApplePro, who tweeted a picture of what claimed to be the front panel of the iPhone 15 series. None of the three panels in question had the bezel that we have gotten used to on iPhones, instead having the cutout the exact shape and placement of Dynamic Island, which we saw on the iPhone 14 Pro.

So is it true? Well, ShrimpApplePro does have a pretty good history of accurate leaks and predictions. What’s more, it would make a lot of sense. Dynamic Island was introduced last year on the Pro model of the iPhone 14. It seems reasonable that Apple would expand the technology to the full range the following year to get people excited about the new release.

However, we will not know for certain until Apple releases more information about the next generation of iPhones.

What is Dynamic Island?

We were introduced to Dynamic Island on the iPhone 14 Pro. It replaced the notch that had been standard on iPhones for a number of generations. Apart from housing the front camera it simply consumed part of the display. Dynamic Island not only takes up less space but uses this space for multiple useful functions.

Essentially it’s an efficient way to show certain bits of information from multiple different apps, as an overlay to whatever you are currently doing. This saves you from having to open the app.

It displays notifications and other useful bits of information, expanding and contracting as it does so. This means it can let you know what music is playing, and gives you control over skipping or pausing when tapped. It also displays notifications for Apple Pay and shows incoming phone calls, to give just a few examples.
