Rather than try and explain why Yoshi’s New Island is such an incredibly boring and insultingly easy game, I’ve decided to come up with eight things that are harder than Nintendo’s latest offering:

  • Breathing
  • Reciting the alphabet
  • Answering this question: 2+2 = ?
  • A ripe banana
  • Bon Jovi
  • Sunday morning
  • Southern fried chicken
  • Not Dark Souls
  • Coming up with a list of 10 things that are more difficult than Yoshi’s New Island…

Completely uninspired and by the numbers, it’s crazy to think this is a sequel to a title that genuinely had a huge impact on the industry back in the day. It certainly has some personality given its art style and how laidback it wants to make you feel, but after a few hours this becomes horrifically dull.

Never a challenge, never that exciting, and never really that good, Yoshi’s New Island is the first blip on the 3DS’ radar for some time.

For a final summary, I would ask you to turn your attention to the first screenshot in the gallery below.

Played for 6 hours. Bored to tears for 6 hours.

He should've stayed on his old island...
4 It looks nice. Zero challenge. It's so dull. It's like pulling teeth.
