Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time entered the All Formats All Price UK video game chart at No.2 last week, and according to data provided by GfK Chart-Track the game was purchased by over 20 per cent of the handheld’s user-base in its first two days on sale.

It’s the start of a summer season which is traditionally beneficial to handhelds, explained Nintendo UK head David Yarnton.

“We generally find that summer time is a good time for handheld gaming and we have lots of sampling and summertime events to get more people hands on with it – that leads us nicely up to all that great content coming out,” Yarnton told MCV.

That great content Yarnton is referring to includes StarFox 3D, Kid Icarus, Mario Kart 3D and Super Mario. Konami’s Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D is also set for a late 2011 release.

“There are aspects to the 3DS that are rising to the top, people are saying ‘I get it now’ and are ready to see what other games it has to offer,” concluded Yarnton.
