Firaxis today released some new footage for XCOM 2 expansion War of the Chosen, giving us our first in-depth look at gameplay from a new mission as you continue the fight against Advent, with more resistance factions teaming up to help defeat the alien threat on earth. The Chosen, a new enemy, emerges with the aim of recapturing the Commander (that’s you). Obviously, you can’t let that happen.

XCOM 2 War of the Chosen is the largest expansion in the entire series, weighing in at about twice the size of previous expansions. So it’s a biggun, then. The expansion adds more of everything: new hero classes, new enemies, missions, environments and increased depth in strategic gameplay or something along those lines, as well as a new Challenge mode.

XCOM 2 picks up twenty years after the events in the hugely popular and well received strategy game, XCOM Enemy Unknown. Humanity lost the war against the alien invasion of Earth in the first game, and now a new world order exists. An alien one. After years in hiding, XCOM forces rise once again to eliminate the alien occupation once and for all.

XCOM 2 War of the Chosen is out on August 31, for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
