Xbox Series X/S will soon be boot up more quickly, once Microsoft rolls out a new feature.

Xbox engineering lead Eden Marie has said that the cold start-up time was quicker for Xbox Insider members. Soon, it will be that way for everyone.

Marie tweeted:

“Someone asked me about this, and I’ll admit I had no clue, but I checked, and yes, the boot animation and cold startup time in general on Xbox Series X|S consoles has been shortened in the latest Insider builds.”

Then, Josh Munsee, the director of integrated marketing at Xbox, chimed in:

“Can confirm – worked with @harrisonhoffman and @jakerose27 to create a shorter boot up animation (~4s) from the original boot up animation (~9s), helping to reduce the overall startup time.”

This is good news, considering that a cold boot of the Xbox Series X/S is very long indeed. I often like to turn my Xbox on, then leave the flat and take care of some grocery shopping. Upon my return, the machine is usually ready.

In other recent Xbox news, Xbox Insiders currently have access to Discord voice chat. Eric Voreis, the principal program manager for Microsoft Gaming, said:

“Today’s update enables a highly requested feature—Discord Voice on Xbox consoles allows you to talk with your friends and community while you play your favourite games.
