Big Xbox price increases announced for consoles, games, controllers and more

Sony recently suffered some price increases with PS Plus and PS5 consoles, and now it’s Microsofts turn with Xbox as the release of the Nintendo Switch 2 looms right around the corner. Microsoft has just announced some big Xbox price increases, and they concern consoles, controllers, and other accessories, as well as games before 2025 ends.

Xbox price increases for consoles, games, controllers and more

As per Xbox support, price increases have come into effect starting May 1st. Below are the new prices for Xbox consoles in the US and United Kingdom:

United States:

  • Xbox Series X  – $599.99 (was $499.99)
  • Xbox Series S 512GB – $379.99 (was $299.99)
  • Xbox Series S 1TB – $429.99 (was $349.99)
  • Xbox Series X Digital – $549.99 (was $449.99)
  • Xbox Series X 2TB Galaxy Black Special Edition – $729.99 (was $599.99)

  • Xbox Series X – £499.99 (was £479.99)
  • Xbox Series S 512GB – £299.99 (was £249.95)
  • Xbox Series S 1TB – £349.99 (was £299.99)

  • Xbox Wireless Controller Series 2 (Full) – $199.99 (was $179.99)
  • Xbox Stereo Headset – $64.99 (was $64.99)
  • Xbox Wireless Headset – $119.99 (was $109.99)

While the above price increases have come into effect now, price increases for games will start “this holiday season” with new first-party games bumped up to $79.99.

As for why these price changes are happening, Microsoft cites “market conditions and the rising cost of development”. They also state that they will “continue to focus on offering more ways to play more games across any screen and ensuring value for Xbox players”.
