Microsoft has launched the Kinect Adapter for Windows, enabling the Kinect for Xbox One to be used with Windows 8.0 and 8.1 via a USB 3.0 port.

The adapter is priced $49.99 and makes the Kinect for Xbox One perform identically to Kinect for Windows v2.

The Kinect Adapter for Windows is available in over two dozen countries and regions now, and will be expanded into 41 regions in a matter of weeks.

In addition, the Kinect for Windows SDK 2.0 is now available, with developers able to commercially deploy Kinect apps in the Windows Store for the first time. A number of apps are now available to download from the Windows Store.
