Microsoft has announced the dates and prices of the five games making up its Summer of Arcade 2011 campaign, which in previous years has given us games such as Geometry Wars 2, Shadow Complex, and Limbo. The latter, you’ll remember, was VideoGamer.com’s second best game of 2010.

July 20 sees Supergiant Games’ action RPG Bastion kick off the proceedings, priced at 1200 Microsoft Points. It’s a hand-painted world based on an anime art style, with a dynamic narration and all sorts of other stuff we’re looking forward to. VideoGamer.com declared Bastion one of the Best of E3 2011

Next week, July 27, sees Ubisoft’s From Dust – again at 1200 Microsoft Points. It’s an impressive looking strategy game helmed by Eric Chahi, who produced Another World in the early 90s.

On the third week we see Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet, which is also (surprisingly) priced at 1200 Microsoft points. It’s an action game with hints of Metroid and Castlevania about it.

A week after that sees Fruit Ninja Kinect launching on August 10 for 800 Microsoft Points. This is a HD, Kinect-ified version of a game you probably have sitting on your phone right now. Will Kinect be able to stand up to the ninja precision needed to chop through lots and lots of fruit?

Finally there’s Toy Soldiers: Cold War, launching on August 17 for 1200 Microsoft Points. This is a sequel to Signal Studios’ strategy-meets-FPS game Toy Soldiers, and catapults the band of army soldiers into a 1980s action movie motif.

The whole quintet will set you back 5600 Microsoft Points – that’s £47.97, €67.20, or $70.00 – but if you buy the lot Microsoft will gift you a free copy of Crimson Alliance in September. Certain Affinity discussed Crimson Alliance, a co-op action RPG,with VideoGamer.com last month.
