Microsoft has revealed the first wave of Xbox Game Pass games for May 2023 and the new additions will surely be welcome ones – especially if you’re an RPG aficionado. But, alas, the arrival of a new set of titles also means we’ll have to say goodbye to a few other games as some of them are leaving the service soon.

With that said, we’ll be taking a look at the moves that Xbox is making with its catalog in order to give you an idea of the changes that are being made. Before you do, though, we suggest reading about and taking advantage of the Xbox Game Pass friend referral program if you haven’t subscribed to it previously or if you just want to let your friends get in on the fun.

Xbox Game Pass May 2023 game additions

The following games are being added to the Game Pass catalog throughout the month of May:

  • Ravenlok (Cloud, Console, and PC) – May 4
  • Weird West: Definitive Edition (Xbox Series X|S) – May 8
  • Shadowrun Trilogy (PC) – May 9
  • Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2 (Cloud, Console, and PC) – May 11

As mentioned before, these are only the first wave of games that are being introduced to Microsoft’s subscription service. This means that you can expect more titles to be revealed in the coming weeks that will be added towards the end of the month.

Games leaving Xbox Game Pass May 2023

Sadly, it’s time to say goodbye to the following games as they’ll all be leaving the service on May 15:

  • Before We Leave (Cloud, Console, and PC)
  • Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair Anniversary Edition (Cloud, Console, and PC)
  • Hearts of Iron IV (PC)
  • Her Story (PC)
  • Umurangi Generation: Special Edition (Cloud, Console, and PC)

Once these titles have left Game Pass, the only way you’ll be able to play them again is if you buy them directly through the Xbox desktop app. According to their blog post, you can also make use of your 20% membership discount to avail of these games once they’ve been removed.

Now that you know what games are coming and going in May 2023, check out the previous Xbox Game Pass additions for April 2023 for more details on the latest catalog additions and removals.
