The Inquirer, a British technology news site, reported yesterday that Xbox 2 (Nextbox, Xbox 360) will ship with wireless controllers, very similar in design to the current Controller S that is bundled with the Xbox.

Today, GamesIndustry.biz, a European games industry news site, claimed to have received word from various sources that have confirmed that wireless pads are definitely coming as standard with the next console from Microsoft. Currently, the only console to support wireless controllers made by the console manufacturer itself is the Nintendo GameCube. Both the Xbox and PlayStation 2 have to make do with third-party alternatives.

We’ll bring you any more news on the wireless controller situation as we receive more information.
