Wuthering Waves is arguably the most popular gacha game on the market behind the holy trinity from Hoyoverse: Genshin Impact, Honkai Star Rail, and Zenless Zone Zero. As fellow gacha experiences, there are a lot of natural similarities between WuWa and Genshin Impact. One of these similarities includes an abundance of leaks, for which Kuro has issued a huge warning against to protect the Wuthering Waves community.

There are a lot of leaks for WuWa online. These leaks include Shorekeeper animations and gameplay for update 1.3, along with details concerning the banner characters for 1.4. Not only all of this, but other leaks show a new area to explore presumably when update 1.3 arrives in just a few weeks.

While leaks are a popular commodity online, it’s not something appreciated by developers. Kuro has issued a warning to leakers to try to protect the Wuthering Waves community, but fans feel efforts will ultimately be futile, similar to Genshin Impact.

Wuthering Waves developer warns leakers

On the Wuthering Waves Developer X account, Kuro has issued the following statement concerning leaks:

“We have noticed that unreleased Wuthering Waves content has been leaked onto social media platforms. Disseminating incomplete information about the game may undermine players’ enjoyment of the game as a whole, dampen the enthusiasm of content creators, and disrupt the development of future content.

To maintain the health of our community, any unauthorized disclosure of Wuthering Waves content is strictly prohibited. Let’s work together to prevent such behavior, and we appreciate your continued support for Wuthering Waves.”

It’s not mentioned how they plan to stop leaks, nor is it mentioned how they plan to punish anyone responsible for leaks appearing online in the first place. However, this is the first time Kuro has addressed leaks for the game following its full release earlier this year.

An abundance of leaks appearing for gacha games has become a regular occurrence as seen mostly with Genshin Impact. Hoyoverse has actually clamped down on leakers before with the likes of Ubatcha quitting, but cracking down on leakers just resulted in even more character leaks appearing online.

Because of what happened with Genshin Impact, fans of Wuthering Waves are convinced leaks will continue for WuWa. Reacting to the warning on Reddit, many replies echo the sentiment, “Just like Hoyo, It won’t make any difference. There will still be leaks”.

Leaks are a divisive part within the gacha community. It appears fans mostly appreciate character leaks, but do not enjoy any revelations about content pertaining to spoilers for the story. In regard to character leaks, this helps fans know when characters are coming out, which helps players know who they want to pull and thus save up their money.
