According to the Wall Street Journal, Nintendo has pencilled in its hugely successful Wii Fit for release in the Americas on May 19. The game/fitness tool ships with a Wii Balance Board enabling the player to use their body to interact with numerous games.

Wii Fit will release a week after the WiiWare download service goes live on May 12. The Wallstreet Journal notes WiiWare (Wii Software in the UK) will enable game creators to release games without the approval of Nintendo, but will require the game to be rated by the appropriate ratings system.

More details on WiiWare and some of the service’s first releases are expected over the course of GDC.
