As part of its gargantuan Call of Duty XP event in Los Angeles, Activision has publicly unveiled Modern Warfare 3’s multiplayer. Here’s an easy-to-digest list of absolutely everything currently announced:

  • Earlier this year a Call of Duty fan video, titled Find Makarov, made its way to the internet. Activision sought out the creators and offered to fund the production of a sequel, which will launch alongside the game on November 8. It’s called Find Makarov: Operation Kingfish
  • Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games claim Modern Warfare 3 to be the most balanced Call of Duty ever. For that reason, there’s no One Man Army, no game-ending nuke, no secondary shotguns, no commando, and no last stand
  • VideoGamer.com has a list of all the perks in Modern Warfare 3
  • Modern Warfare 3 will ship with 16 multiplayer maps, and each map will be playable in Spec Ops Survival mode
  • Killstreaks are now called Strike Packages, and players choose between three different skill trees – Assault, Support, and Specialist. Each package has its own set of individual rewards, and VideoGamer.com has more information here
  • Weapon Proficiencies have been added, and alongside your personal player rank you also level up your individual guns with RPG-like statistic screens. Maxing out a gun also unlocks its golden skin variant. It is currently unclear if your weapon proficiencies are wiped when you Prestige
  • On the subject of Prestige, there is now a Prestige Shop
  • A loyalty system, stretching back to Call of Duty 4, rewards you with bonuses for having played Call of Duty games in the past
  • Spec Ops mode, which has its own separate levelling system, will give out emblems that can be carried across to regular multiplayer
  • Kill Confirmed is a new gametype that puts a new spin on Team Deathmatch. You drop dogtags when you die, and these have to be collected by the other team to count towards their score. If an allied player collects your dog tags then the kill is “denied” and the other team doesn’t get squat
  • The dual scopes seen in single-player exist in multiplayer, but equipping them also uses the underbarrel slot on your weapon
  • There is now a massive list of Private Match options, including gametypes such as Infection. Users will be able to save, upload, and share their own gametypes on Call of Duty: Elite, and Activision promises to promote the best creations
  • Another gametype is called Team Defender, which is a variant of one-flag CTF
  • A premium subscription to Call of Duty: Elite will cost £34.99/$49.99 a year. A year’s subscription will also be included with the Hardened edition of Modern Warfare 3. VideoGamer.com has detailed everything premium members get here
  • Microsoft will be releasing a limited edition Modern Warfare 3 Xbox 360, which comes with two wireless controllers, a copy of the game, and a 320gb hard drive.

Modern Warfare 3 will be released November 8.
