dj2 Entertainment (Sleeping Dogs, Sonic The Hedgehog movies), Gold Circle Entertainment (Pitch Perfect), and developer Compulsion Games are working together to bring survival game We Happy Few to the silver screen, according to Variety.

Head developer at Compulsion Guillaume Provost has said dj2 initially approached the studio with ideas on how to morph the Early Access title into a movie. dj2’s CEO Dmitri Johnson stated ‘our commitment is to make a movie that remains true to the source material, while still surprising fans.’

While the reveal trailer for We Happy Few at E3 2016 captured the imagination of many, and soon drew comparisons to Irrational Games’ BioShock, the game received some flack from players when available on Steam in Early Access, and on Xbox One via the Preview Program.

Regardless of that, the idea behind We Happy Few would most definitely fit in a Hollywood movie, with its creepy tone where the general public are brainwashed via a drug called Joy.
