Following the recent resignation of Walter Hamada as Warner Bros Discovery’s President of DC Films after four years in the role. A tenure that was marked by several high profile cases of conflict, mostly related to the treatment of director, Zack Snyder, and his wife and producing partner, Deborah Snyder, following the death of their daughter during the production of ‘Justice League‘, and the alleged treatment of the movie’s cast following the Snyders removal from the production.
Warner have announced that Hamada will be replaced by two of the studios most high profile filmmakers. Writer/Producer/Director, James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.1 and Vol.2, The Suicide Squad, Peacemaker), and Producer, Peter Safran (Aquaman, Shazam!, The Suicide Squad).

In their press release announcing these appointments and that DC Films will now become DC Studios, Warner confirmed that Gunn and Safran will be responsible for overseeing the development and production of long-term plans for all of the DC Comics properties. They also confirmed that in addition to their now roles as Co-Chairmen and CEO’s of DC Studios. Gunn and Safran will also continue to develop, direct, and produce DC Comics based movie and TV projects for Warners’ under the DC Studios banner.

Speaking about Gunn and Safran’s appointments, David Zaslav, Warner Bros. Discovery’s President and CEO had this to say:

This was then followed by a statement from Gunn and Safran who said:

We’re excited to invigorate the theatrical experience around the world as we tell some of the biggest, most beautiful, and grandest stories ever told.
