Developer Fatshark has announced that Warhammer: Vermintide 2 is going free-to-play on Steam and Xbox One over the weekend.

The blood-spilling, first-person cooperative title is available to take for a spin now until Monday, September 3. Not only that, but if you're impressed enough to buy Vermintide 2 outright, you can snap it up for half price on the Steam Store.

Warhammer: Vermintide 2 was released earlier in the year and got off to a pretty good start, selling over one million copies in five weeks. Not too shabby, eh?

Fatshark recently launched the game's first slice of DLC, Shadows Over Bogenhafen, for PC and Xbox One versions of the game. Unfortunately, PlayStation 4 owners are still waiting get a slice of the rat-killing action, as Vermintide 2 has yet to launch for the platform.

A PS4 edition is expected to turn up at some point this year though, so hopefully we'll hear more soon.
