Saber Interactive’s Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2 is continuing to receive frequent content drops, but recent events have caused unrest within the fanbase. Following the game’s Datavault update, the game’s Imperial Vigil event led to many fans experiencing FOMO in the game for the first time.

With this event, players were tasked with achieving “a victory with each of 6 classes in Operations Mode”. Those who did were able to unlock an emblem-less Mark VIII Errant Helmet. Obviously, those who didn’t unlocked nothing.

Space Marine 2 devs apologise for new events

Fans who missed the free Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2 cosmetic were unhappy the addition of missable content within the game. While the game will continue to have these forms of limited-time events, Saber promises the title won’t become a “full live-service” game.

“We have noted that the Community Events have received cold feedback since we introduced them as an additional way to unlock cosmetic items,” the developers said. “We saw that many of you mentioned FOMO generated by the events. Rest assured, we are not looking to transform Space Marine 2 into a full live service game.”

Saber confirmed that the items available via events will also return at a later date for everyone to unlock. However, players who engage in community events will be able to unlock cosmetics before everyone else.

“We want Community Events to be a way to unlock the items in advance, for the most dedicated players, and not to be a source of frustration and stress for everyone,” the developers said. “However, that means we must provide a smooth experience in unlocking said items, which has not been the case so far. We deeply apologize for the trouble, and are currently working on a simplified process to unlock the items, to make the experience less constraining.”
