Saber Interactive’s absolutely colossal Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 Patch 8 update is out right now. Alongside the addition of the game’s awesome Horde Mode equivalent Siege Mode, the new update brings major game-changing additions to the brilliant action game.
Space Marine 2 Siege Mode is here
After months of waiting, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 Siege Mode is here. The Horde Mode equivalent is unlike anything else we’ve seen in a Warhammer game, giving three-person teams waves upon aves of Tyranids and Chaos Marines to fight against.
Since the release of the mode in the game’s PTS test servers, Saber Interactive has made major changes to the mode to make it more exciting for fans. Players who previously tested the mode before release found issues with the game’s timer limit for the Horde battles, but Saber has worked hard to change it.
“The biggest criticism regarding Siege mode from the community was the wave timer limit,” the developer said. “It exists only for technical reasons. In this build we’ve made some optimizations so the Siege mode can last longer.”
The new Space Marine 2 Siege Mode not only brings endless enemy waves for players to fight, but also more strategic elements. Players can earn resources to summon AI Space Marines or even terrifying Deadnoughts to fight on their behalf by completing side objectives such as retrieving data slates, capture points and more.
Additionally, every fifth wave of the Siege Mode brings a boss fight to the game mode as they fight endlessly against the Xenos scum.
Extra Patch 8 goodies
Alongside the Siege Mode update, Patch 8 adds even more to the game. For example, PC players now have access to an experimental RTAO (ray-traced ambient occlusion) option for better visuals as well as DLSS 4 support for better upscaling and multiframe generation on 50-series GPUs.
For everyone else, there’s a new Thunder Hammer weapon for Bulward classes that disables the use of Storm Shield. Absolute difficulty has also added including a second Terminus that can appear in a mission, increased enemy health across the board and missions with final bosses now also spawning Terminus enemies.
“This change is made according to the community poll that we made a while ago,” Saber told fans. “We think that Absolute difficulty wasn’t that hard to begin with and now with a slight power creep of constant weapons buffs, perk buffs and prestige perks the situation is much worse.”
While Space Marine 3 is already in development, Saber Interactive has even more in the works for Space Marine 2 with more operations, PvP updates and much more coming to the game.
