Saber Interactive’s announcement of Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 3 won’t alter plans for Space Marine 2 content, but the exciting new sequel will be a huge technical leap over the second game.
In the announcement, Saber Interactive explained that the upcoming sequel will continue the adventures of Ultramarine Captain Demetrian Titus. After the already-massive battles of the second game, the third title aims to be “bigger and better” with a huge jump in the sizes of fights.
Space Marine 3 will be the biggest game yet
As Saber begins work on Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 3, the studio is promising an “even more immersive experience” that is not only accurate to Games Workshop’s tabletop masterpiece, but continues the video games’ “intense, brutal and spectacular gameplay”.
After the huge success of the second game proved to be a “transformative game for Saber”, its upcoming sequel will be an even bigger release. Just like SM2, the third game will include “an immersive campaign” that players can fight through.
Saber has also confirmed that “a multiplayer mode” will be included in the game. With only a single multiplayer mode mentioned, there is a possibility that the second game’s underplayed PvP mode may be sidelined to focus on the more extremely popular PvE Operations.
“We will take all our learnings and apply them to an even bigger and more spectacular game for the third installment,” Saber continued. “We view this as an opportunity to create a true love letter to the Warhammer 40.000 universe.”
Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 3 has only just started development, and Saber has a large number of projects in the pipeline. Alongside both Space Marine titles, Saber is also working on Knights of the Old Republic, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Jurassic Park Survival, Toxic Avenger and more.
For the new Warhammer game. Saber claims the game’s “large-scale battles” will be “even more spectacular”, massively expanding the scale of conflict for the third game. It’s not known if the game will be the last game in the series, but we really hope not.
