Isopod Labs has announced the development of V8: Arcade, a re-imagining of the car-combat title originally released for the PlayStation, N64 and Dreamcast in the late ’90s.

Split-screen multiplayer gaming that made the originals so much fun returns for up to four-players, plus all-new online support over Xbox LIVE where up to eight players can battle it out.

The game will include five newly designed interactive arenas, eight highly varied ’70s vehicles (10,000+ polygons each), unique special weapons, six standard weapon pick-ups with three advanced attacks each, user customisable paint jobs, voice and planned camera support, leaderboards, Achievements and more.

The first screens certainly look great for an XBLA title and with the promise of future downloadable content, both free and premium, V8: Arcade could gain a huge following on Xbox LIVE.

The game’s out in the spring so there isn’t long to wait. Hopefully we’ll get more info over the coming weeks.
