Console players, rejoice! Riot Games’ hit team-based shooter Valorant is heading to current-gen consoles (PS5 and Xbox Series X|S) soon, starting with a short limited beta session on June 14, 2024. The pre-launch period will initially be available in several regions, including the US, Canada, the UK, Europe, and Japan. Afterward, Riot may possibly roll it out to remaining global regions, though it has not confirmed when it will do so.

If you want to try out Valorant on console, you can register for the limited beta by heading to its dedicated web page. Like most beta periods, though, signing up won’t guarantee access, so you may have to remain patient since Riot will likely only accept a few participants initially. It’s also worth noting that crossplay will not be available between PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Sadly, this means you won’t get to play with your friends on other platforms.

However, if you’ve previously played Valorant on PC, you’ll have a shared inventory with your console accounts, so you can make use of all the skins and accessories you’ve collected in the past. And, unlike other live service games, Riot Games will simultaneously release new agents, content, and patches on all platforms.

Default controller setups will be similar to most FPSs; your controller’s shoulder buttons are used for firing and aiming, while the right-side buttons are for reloading, jumping, and swapping weapons. The down button on the d-pad is used for planting and defusing the spike while the left button is for dropping your currently equipped weapon.

Again, Valorant’s console launch on June 14, 2024, is not an actual release date but the beginning of its limited beta period on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Riot Games has yet to specify when it will release the game on consoles. That said, it should take place sooner rather than later, especially if the pre-launch period goes smoothly.
