EA’s Battlefield 3 has held on at the top of the All Formats All Prices UK Video game chart, despite a 54 per cent drop in sales. This means Sony’s Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception must settle for a debut at No.2.

However, Uncharted 3 is by no means a failure for Sony and Naughty Dog, becoming the 11th highest PS3 launch week and recording a 37 per cent increase in sales over Uncharted 2.

Elsewhere, SEGA’s most pre-ordered Sonic game ever, Sonic Generations, is new at No.10. Inside the Top 10 Zumba Fitness is up 35 per cent to No.8 and Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure climbs 17 per cent to No.9.

The only other Top 40 new release is GoldenEye: Reloaded at No.16.

Battlefield 3’s place at the top won’t last much longer, with Modern Warfare 3 and Skyrim almost certain to chart at No.1 and No.2 respectively. For EA it will be important to see its FPS stick around inside the Top 10 once Activision’s Modern Warfare 3 hits stores at midnight.

Uncharted 3 failed to take the No.1 spot, but a 37 per cent sales increase is a decent start for the PS3 exclusive action adventure game. Again, the game’s legs will be put to the ultimate test in the coming weeks.

For SEGA, Sonic Generations should continue to sell during the holiday season, with the blue hedgehog sure to be on many a Christmas list.
