THQ’s UFC Undisputed 3 takes the All Formats All Prices UK No.1, the publisher’s first chart topper since Homefront back in Week 11, 2011.

However, the chart position doesn’t tell the entire story, with the third game actually selling fewer units in its debut week than the No.2 charting UFC 2010: Undisputed managed in 2010. UFC 2009 Undisputed, the first game in the series, charted at No.1 in May 2009 and sold over three times the copies achieved by UFC 3.

A week of attractive retailer promotions means there’s plenty of week-on-week jumps, which spelled bad news for Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning – last week’s No.1 slumps a not uncommon 63 per cent and slides out of the Top 10 to No.12.

Elsewhere FIFA 12 is up 21 per cent and climbs to No.2, Modern Warfare 3 takes a 29 per cent boost to No.3 and Mario and Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games is helped by the 3DS version and a price cut to the Wii version to achieve a huge 94 per cent increase to climb to No.4.

In fact, the only titles inside the Top 10 which failed to record a week-on-week sales increase are Final Fantasy XIII-2 and The Darkness 2, down 42 per cent and 43 percent, respectively.

Given the price cuts on Final Fantasy XIII-2 last week – which saw the game drop to less than £25 – we’re a little surprised to see the JRPG record such a large drop, and with a busy release period incoming further sales are likely to be hard to come by.

We’ve a bumper week of new releases in store and that’s not taking into account the flurry of activity surrounding the PS Vita’s debut on Wednesday. Look out for Syndicate, The Last Story, Jak & Daxter Trilogy, Binary Domain and Kinect: Zumba Fitness – Rush, whilst we expect Uncharted: Golden Abyss and WipEout 2048 to be the highest placed Vita games.
