It’s not like it wasn’t expected, but first week sales of PES 6 across PS2, Xbox 360 and PC have blown away the competition, eclipsing FIFA 07 first week sales by 23%. Broken down into platforms, PES6 on PS2 is 14,000 down on PES5 first week sales, but the Xbox 360 version becomes the new leader in highest first week sales on the platform, eclipsing that of Dead Rising by some margin.

FIFA 07 holds onto the No.2 spot, with the Xbox 360 release bring about a sales boost of 96% over last week. The Sims 2: Pets sticks at No.3, and Football Manager 2007 slips three places to No.4. Rockstar Games’ Canis Canem Edit (Bully) is a new entry at No.5. Other new entries include Guild Wars: Nightfall at No.15, Buzz! Junior: Jungle Party at No.21, Singstar Legends No.24, Mortal Kombat: Armageddon at a disappointing No.27, and Dark Messiah of Might And Magic beginning life on the chart at No.34.

This week sees the release of Need for Speed Carbon, a candidate for Christmas No.1, but it has some stiff competition from GTA: Vice City Stories on PSP. It’s likely that the multiplatform power of Need for Speed will see it win out though. Other titles making a charge for the chart include FIFA Manager 07, GUN: Showdown, Killzone: Liberation, Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, Neverwinter Nights 2 and Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War – Dark Crusade.
