Bethesda’s The Elder Scrolls Online begins its chart life at No.2, having been beaten to the top spot by FIFA 14, Chart-Track reports.

Elder Scrolls Online launched for PC only with Xbox One and PS4 versions to follow, and given that many gamers will have opted to buy digitally a No.2 place doesn’t seem too bad.

FIFA 14 has now achieved a total of 11 weeks at No.1, a feat only managed by four other titles: Who Wants to be a Millionaire, Wii Fit, Zumba Fitness and FIFA: Road to the World Cup 98. The game has also remained in the Top 6 since it launched 28 weeks ago.

Elsewhere Titanfall holds at No.3, Call of Duty: Ghosts climbs to No.4, and Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes drops three places to No.5. InFamous: Second Son is one of the week’s big losers, with sales down 55 per cent and a drop of five places from No.1 to No.6.

The only other new entry to make the Top 40 is Tecmo Koei’s Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Complete Ed for PS4 and Vita at No.29.
