FIFA 13 held on for a second week atop the UK Video Game Chart, despite the release of Capcom’s big budget Resident Evil 6.

Sales of FIFA 13 are down 72 per cent over its record-breaking launch week, but this is still more than good enough to secure the top spot. Resident Evil 6 is new at No.2 and becomes the fourth biggest launch of the year so far, behind FIFA 13, Borderlands 2 and Mass Effect 3.

Resident Evil 5 charted at No.1 in week 11 of 2009.

Further down the chart the new releases continue to appear: Just Dance 4 is at No.4, whilst NBA 2K13 makes a surprisingly high start at No.6.

Rocksmith holds at No.7, Skyrim takes eighth spot, PES 2013 is at No.9 and Sleeping Dogs sticks at No.10.

The biggest faller is Blizzard’s Mists of Pandaria which appears to be bombing out of the chart, down from No.4 to No.20.

Given Capcom’s high expectations for Resident Evil 6 charting at No.2 would appear to be a disappointment, but it’s difficult to determine sales numbers.

We know FIFA 13 sold 1.2 million copies in week one, meaning week 2 figures are approximately 336,000 units. How close to this figure Resident Evil 6 came isn’t known.
