Batman: Arkham Origins, the third game in Warner’s blockbuster series, has entered the All Formats chart at No.1, but failed to match the impressive sales of Arkham City.

In fact, Origins has sold on a par with Arkham Asylum, and around half the units achieved by 2011’s Arkham City.

GTA 5 drops 28 per cent week-on-week and falls to No.2, but was still able to fend off FIFA 14 at No.3 and Skylanders: Swap Force at No.4 – down 50 per cent on its launch week.

Nintendo 2DS bundling helps LEGO The Lords of the Rings jump 11 places to No.8 and Mind Candy’s Moshi Monsters: Katsuma Unleashed climb 20 places to No.9.

Ubisoft’s Rocksmith 2014 Edition is new at No.15, The Sims 3: Into the Future is at No.18 and Activision’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fails to spark much interest at No.27.

Assassin’s Creed 4 was brought forward to benefit from a Tuesday release, giving it a headstart over EA’s Battlefield 4, meaning it’s very difficult to determine which of the heavy hitters will perform best. Also look out for another chart entry from the Angry Birds thanks to Activision’s Star Wars release for all current platforms.
